Tim Wakefield

Tim Wakefield is one of the top pitchers in Boston Red Sox history and a two-time World Series champion. Tim has been pitching for the
Red Sox since 1995, making him the longest-serving member of the team with more starts than any other Red Sox pitcher. Tim is known for
his famous knuckleball pitch.
In 2010 Tim reached another milestone in his career, throwing 2,000 strikeouts, making him the 64th pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB)
history to reach that total. In 1995 he was named the AL Comeback Player of the Year and in 2009 was selected to the MLB All-Star team.
Tim is well known throughout MLB and in New England as one of the most charitable players because of his selfless actions on the field,
and his charitable contributions off the field. Because of his outstanding spirit of giving back to the community, Tim received the 2010 Roberto Clemente Award as the player who "best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community
involvement and the individual's contribution to his team."
Tim also received the Bart Giamatti Award in 2010, given for excellence in the community to the player who "best exemplifies the
compassion demonstrated" by the late MLB Commissioner Giamatti. Among his many contributions, Tim has also been very active with New
England's Pitching in for Kids organization, dedicated to improving the lives of children across the New England region.
